Spotlight -The Kustom Built

Our Brief History In The North

The Kustom Built are a Newcastle/Sunderland based 5 piece, formed around seven months ago from the wreckage of numerous local bands. Citing The Animals, Shipbuilding, Jack Carter, Jobs at Nissan, Kevin Keegan, Peter Ried, Stripped out mines and Viz all as influences. The band are currently unsigned but are already attracting a wide fanbase.

Described as "falling between the sonic guitar pop of The Stone Roses and the beats & pieces tomfoolery of The Beastie Boys" and already a firm Radio One Evening Session favourite, having played the first 'Lamacq Live' BBC Maida Vale session of the new millennium (Oasis did the second) and already clocking up some 12+ Radio One plays of the bands AA demo 'Taking Care of Business/Torch Song'. A current 'C' Listing on Xfm, and the attraction of almost every 'A&R' man in Camden after the band played the last ever BarFly gig at the Falcon, as their debut London Gig.

"SupedUpFunkadelicPunkDubRock’n’Stroll"

The Kustom Built's gritty beat driven anthems never gloss over the darker side of life, but also choose to hit a good groove to warm the heart in the face of hard times.

Looking Forward To What?

The band are about to fully issue 'Taking Care Of Business' a dancefloor hungry youth anthem backed carefully with the reflective northern soul homage that is 'Torch Song' released through the bands own ATOMIC HiFi Record Label. Available nationwide as a limited issue 7" AA Side and Three Track CD [distribution through Shellshock]
