Blisterhead - The Attik, Leicester

Blisterhead headlined a post Christmas punk gig at The Attik to awesome effect. The band are a 4 piece from Sweden and play high-energy sing-along punk rock. Their music combines the tunes of The Ramones with the attack of Rancid. If you aren’t familiar with one or both of those bands they are high speed, loud and pack their songs with football-chant style choruses. Just what you need to shake off the Christmas lethargy!

The pace never stops. From the first notes opener ‘On Parole’, through a high speed Joe Strummer tribute (reaction – madness!) ‘I Fought the Law’ to ‘B-boys Bop’ Sweat pours from the glass and walls of this tiny 70 capacity venue. High much fun with your clothes on etc…

Visually them turn out in uniform – tonight red bowling style shirts. Euro-punk anyone?

This was in fact Blisterhead’s first UK gig and is part of a tour. Hopefully they will return and if and when they do, you must catch them. Preferably somewhere small.

Punk at its roots, at its best.
